Information and Resources

Be sure to peruse The Dance-Away Zone Webring (look for the webring banner at the bottom of members' pages) -- it contains a number of extremely helpful informational sites about the ICoC and other coercive groups; webring members include REVEAL, RESOURCE, Triumphing Over London Cults (TOLC), Awakened, Freendeed Ministries, and others.

The following sites aren't in the webring for one reason or another, but they definitely have a wealth of information for your review.

American Family Foundation. Newsletter, seminars, books and tapes -- A good place to start, in my opinion, if you are beginning to educate yourself about coercive groups in general.

Resource Center for Freedom of Mind. Website of Steve Hassan, a former member of the Unification Church (a.k.a., "Moonies"). Steve's stated mission: "We believe that only you have the right to control your mind. With knowledge, awareness, and effective reality-testing strategies, you will be able to determine what is best for your life. I hope that this site will become one of the centers for a worldwide virtual community, which opposes totalitarianism, and its methods of controlling people by sabotaging their ability to exercise their free will." Check it out... you'll find some good stuff here.

REVIVE. This website is maintained by students at the University of California at Berkeley. From former members' stories, to flyers you can use on your campus, to poetry written by ex-members of coercive groups.

Let Us Reason Ministries. An apologetics ministry based on the island of Oahu (Hawaii), the site includes articles about the ICoC.

New Covenant Publications. Articles, flyers, and other excellent counter-cult materials. The author is an ex-ICoC member.

Carol Giambalvo's Cult Recovery & Information. Carol and others have worked diligently to develop ethical standards for interventions. The site also includes information about the ICoC.

Rick Ross studies cults and abusive groups; his site includes information about the ICoC.

Apologetics Index. "Apologetics Index provides a database and glossary of information on cults, sects, new religious movements, doctrines, apologetics and counter-cult organizations. Issues addressed range from spiritual abuse to the teachings and practices found in current renewal and revival movements. Apologetics Index also includes up-to-date religion news, articles on Christian life and ministry, and a variety of other features."
